Asparagus

Have you ever tried grilling asparagus drizzled with olive oil, sea salt, and freshly cracked peppers? They taste terrific!

One of my all-time favorite snacks is a blended mixture of grilled asparagus, artichokes, and mushroom mixed with herbs and spices and served as bruschetta on toasted sourdough. Yum!

Highlighted Benefits

Anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immune health

A unique compound called asparagine is found in asparagus. Asparagine is an amino acid that helps increase urinary output, which is probably why traditional medicine in Asia has used it for its diuretic properties for centuries. They benefit those dealing with fluid retention in the body. Asparagus also contains niacin which helps to remove toxins from the body.

Other important nutrients in asparagus are vitamins A, C, and K, folate, riboflavin, fiber, potassium, and antioxidants.
