Easy Bone Broth
The marrow inside the bone is an excellent source of essential fatty acids, which have clinically been proven to improve overall brain function. Bone broth contains a large quantity of glycine, an amino acid that helps promote mental alertness. But that is not all; bone broth also benefits the gut, skin, and joint health. When making bone broth, it’s best to choose grass-fed beef bones as they are more nutritious.
Ingredients
4 pounds of grass-fed beef bones (a mix of bones with marrow and meat)
2 heads garlic, halved crosswise
2 small onions, quartered
2 large carrots, cut into 2-inch pieces
4 celery stalks, cut into 2-inch pieces
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
Water
Sea salt and pepper, season to taste
Steps
Preheat over to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place beef bones, garlic, onions, carrots, and celery on a large baking pan and toss with the olive oil and turmeric.
Roast in the oven for 30 minutes.
Transfer roasted beef bones, vegetables, and juices into a pot and add enough water to cover the ingredients—season with salt and pepper.
Turn the heat up to high and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for about 2 hours.
Strain into a mason jar and refrigerate.
