Honey and Ginger Throat Lozenges: A Natural Remedy for Sore Throat

Honey and ginger, both known for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, can be a wonderful remedy for a sore throat. Here's a simple recipe for homemade Honey and Ginger Throat Lozenges.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of honey

  • 1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Steps

  1. Combine the honey and ginger in a small pot.

  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer. This is the "hard crack" stage in candy making.

  3. Once the mixture reaches the right temperature, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

  4. Drop small spoonfuls of the mixture onto powdered sugar-dusted parchment paper.

  5. Let the drops harden completely. This may take a few hours.

  6. Once hardened, dust the lozenges with more powdered sugar to prevent them from sticking together.

  7. Store the lozenges in an airtight container.

*Note: To use, place a lozenge in your mouth and let it slowly dissolve to soothe your sore throat. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting new herbal remedies, especially if you have any health conditions or are taking other medications.
