Remedy-Me Honey

These are super easy-to-make natural remedies that come in handy for those who prefer natural wellness alternatives.

Honey has superb antibacterial and antifungal properties, which are excellent for healing. I recommend using cold-pressed or raw honey for natural remedies rather than heated honey, which contains additives and loses its healing abilities.

Honey Ointment

This is my go-to ointment for relieving itchy, allergic skin breakouts I sometimes experience after coming into contact with chemicals found in perfumes and household cleaning products. Believe me; I’ve had my fair share of allergic breakouts throughout the years, and nothing works better for me than natural remedies.

Ingredients

  • 1/8 cup raw honey

  • 1/8 cup coconut oil

Steps

  1. Mix ingredients in a small bowl.

  2. Store in a small jar or container and keep refrigerated.

Honey-Based Cough Syrup

What makes honey an excellent cough suppressant is how it coats your throat from that dry roughness you feel when coughing. Honey also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, probably because they always prevent my soar throat from worsening.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cold-pressed or raw honey

  • 1/8 cup lemon juice or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon ginger

Steps

  1. Mix ingredients in a small bowl.

  2. Store in a jar. It can be stored in the refrigerator for later use.

Honey Turmeric Paste

The combination of turmeric and honey can do wonders for the skin. Both contain antioxidants and have healing properties that may help speed healing, making this paste perfect for helping soothe minor burns. I keep this mixture in my refrigerator to help recover from accidental kitchen burns :)

Ingredients

  • 1 part raw honey

  • 1 part turmeric powder

Steps

  1. Mix ingredients.

  2. Apply to the wound and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing off.

  3. Repeat 2 to 3 times a day.
