Spirulina

A protein superfood, spirulina is a blue-green algae that grows in fresh water. Spirulina gets its green color from chlorophyll content, while its blue color comes from phycocyanin pigment. There are wide varieties of spirulina, and all are packed with nutrients that can help support overall health. I began including spirulina into my diet in 2011 as part of my daily natural skincare and energy-boosting regimen when I learned about superfoods.
